Firebug by Joe Hewitt is Mozilla Firefox extension for web developers that helps debugging JavaScript, HTML, CSS issues, allows in-line modification of the code, page load progress monitoring and so on.

Yahoo! also developed YSlow extension for Firebug that significantly extends it's performance monitoring functions.
